Many girls tell me they find red lipstick absolutely beautiful, but they are afraid to actually wear it. Have no fear, because the holidays are here! The perfect moment to try out that red lipstick. But how do you combine red lips with the rest of your makeup? A problem I've heard pretty often, actually!
So today I have 7 looks for you, with the classic red lips!
For these looks I used my Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RD 415, except for the last look.
For the last look I'm using Sephora Rouge in 1360D R03 - Passion Red. It's a deep red, almost burgundy.

I took all these pictures in one day, so let's say you start at look #2, but you'd rather want look #5, it's possible! Just build it up. You can also see this as a tutorial, since every look is a step to the next look. Okay, let's start!
Look #1
This is a very simple look. Curl your lashes, apply two coats of your favourite, black mascara on your top lashes and apply white pencil eyeliner on your waterline. Apply a soft pink blush on the cheeks.
Look #2
Personally my favourite way to wear red lipstick on a daily base! Use your blackest eyeliner to line your eyes. Don't forget the wing! Tip: use eyeshadow base to make your eyeliner last long and to prevent greasy lids.
Look#3
Also one of my favourite looks! It makes the eyes pop, but it still lays the focus on the red lips.
Apply a line with black pencil eyeliner on 1/3 of your lower lashline. Then smudge with a brown pencil eyeliner. This way it's still a soft look. Apply mascara on your bottom lashes.
Look#4
Apply a brown eyeshadow in your crease and blend, blend, blend! Then apply a eyeshadow on your lid in the same colour of your skin. Here I used Bark in my crease and Cappuccino on my lid (both Sleek palette).
Apply extra mascara on your upper lashes.
Look #5
A very subtle smokey effect on your eyes and some highlighter! I used Moss in my crease and I swiped it on my lower lashline and I used Taupe over my lid. Moss is a shimmery green-ish colour. I applied it over Bark, from look #4, which gives that beautiful smokey effect and it blends perfectly. Taupe is a light gold with a lot of shimmer. More of a highlighter, actually.
For blush go for a slightly peachy blush, to keep the warmth in your look.

Look #6
It's getting serious, girls! This look is heavier than the last ones. Here I added Noir in my outer V and blended it in my crease. I also applied some more brown pencil eyeliner on my lower lashline and smudged it with the black eyeshadow (Noir). Add another layer mascara on both upper and bottom lashes. For this look, go for a slightly peachy colour as well. A more noticeable contour will look beautiful with this look!
Look #7
I know it's an unwritten rule to combine heavy eyes with nude lips and vica versa, but rules are there to be broken! For this look I used a dark red colour, even though it's not noticeable in the pictures. I replaced the white eyeliner with a black one, on my waterline. On my lid I used Sephora - Mad for macaroons. In my crease I used Mineral Earth (dark brown) and Noir (black) from my Sleek palette. I applied another coat of mascara and some black liner on my lower lashline.
To go over the top, I love to use a strong contour with this look and a warm, peach blush.
I have to say that this look really is for the daredevils. I think it looks great, especially with the holidays! I think this look will look absolutely beautiful on the more tanned ladies.
That's it! Seven looks for you to wear that red lipstick. So no more excuses that you don't know how to wear it! I'm a fan of red lips, can you tell?
Also, the first 4 looks will look beautifully with a highlighter on the cheekbones! Look #5 will look beautiful too, but watch out it won't get too shiny. After all, your lids are already shiny.
You can also combine your red lips with glitter eyeshadow. That will look perfectly with the holidays! I'm not only talking Christmas, but also New Year and Valentine and whatever holiday is coming up soon, haha!
Hope you enjoyed the seven looks, which together created a tutorial. I'd love to see your look with a red lipstick, so send me a link or a photo (email/Twitter) to show me yours!
No more excuses, missy! Start wearing that sexy, classy red lipstick!
